Under the repeated rutting action of driving loads, as well as various other human and environmental factors, especially the physical changes of cold shrinkage and thermal expansion, cracks and damages occur on highways. We have developed very mature strategies for dealing with this common road crack, such as using fiberglass geogrids to strengthen the strength and rigidity of the road surface, and quickly constructing a flat and uniform asphalt reinforced surface layer on the road surface.
Repair of Cracked Pavement with Geogrid
1、 Preparation before construction:
1. Inspect whether the road surface on the site is clean and flat. When laying the geogrid, it is necessary to ensure flatness, fully straighten the geogrid, and avoid stacking. Ensure that the geogrid is fully tensioned in both vertical and horizontal directions, and also fix and overlap the edges to ensure uninterrupted tensile strength of the entire road, thus forming an overall network.
2. Preparation of construction tools, including steel nails, gaskets, scissors, and ties. Since most construction sites will drive vehicles during laying, especially paver and carriers, heavy vehicles will easily roll up the geogrid. Once the geogrid is drawn into the wheel, its grid potential must be torn and damaged, thus damaging the tensile strength and reducing the tensile force. Therefore, steel nails and shims should be used to fix the geogrid and nail it to the road surface. Scissors are easy to cut, and some roads have uneven edges, while the grille can be easily cut open with scissors. Ties are mainly used for binding at overlapping points. This binding is temporary, so ties are sufficient and do not require steel reinforcement materials such as U-nails for fixation. Geogrid
2、 Basic treatment of road surface:
1. The surface should be clean and free of debris, and when paving, ensure that the road surface is free of sand and soil.
2. In areas that already have cracks, use anti crack stickers for treatment first, and then lay geogrids.
3. In areas where the foundation is relatively soft and prone to collapse in the future, we suggest laying multiple layers. If conditions permit, steel plastic geogrids should be laid below the roadbed for preliminary treatment.
4. The project of transforming a hollowed out cement road into an asphalt road requires smashing the hollowed out part and reprocessing it.
